Bonjour all,

I have been struggling with the data migration problem for a long =
time... and get stuck in the middle of the road.

I am importing company data from either excel or text files into the =
cdf_Product table of SQL server (cdf_mscrm database) using the SQL Query =
Analyzer, where a problem is encountered that in the table structure, =
there exists the product id as the primary key (data type: SQLINT); =
however, i found out that when i create a new product in CRM, the =
product id is automatically generated, e.g.: =
{48CBA206-95D9-4E35-B303-7C69E8FFE3C5}; during the data migration =
process, the action is unsuccessful due to the attributes as the primary =
key.

Thus, how could I solve this problem? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to hearing from you. A million thanks in advance.

Dear Ronald,

Thanks for your reply.

The sql written is stated as follows:

BULK INSERT cdf_mscrm..cdf_Product FROM 'c:\Summary_Microsoft.txt'
WITH (FORMATFILE =3D 'c:\Summary_Microsoft_CDF.fmt')

An error msg. is prompted:
Server: Msg 4839, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot perform bulk insert. Invalid collation name for source column 1 =
in format file 'c:\Summary_Microsoft_CDF.fmt'.

whereas the contents of the formatted file is stated as follows:
8.0

In addition, I have created several fields in CRM schema and they are =
listed in the cdf_Product_ext table, how could I import the data in?
There exist relevant triggers in the cdf_Product table. I checked out =
the data migration guide and was guided to use the "FIRE_TRIGGERS" =

the data of the customized fields in the source file?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you for your kind attention.=20

Hi,

I have to admit that I did never use 'bulk insert' yet and therefore do not
know if that statement or formatted file is correct. After searching a bit on
google, it appears that quite a lot of people are encountering issues with
format files. Some of them are pointing in the direction of double spaces.
When i check your file, it appears that after every SQLINT you have two
spaces. You might want to remove one of those. If this is not the case, just
search a bit on google.

The way I do usually import data, is by using DTS packages to load the data
into the cdf_Product table. After adding data to that table, empty data is
added automatically to the cdf_Product_info and cdf_Product_ext tables as
well. Usuall I do update this data (or delete it and add the correct data)
for the customized field.

I hope this helps.

I had checked what you said. But it still doesn't work out. Same error prompts.
Alternatively, I try using DTS packages to bring in the data.

However, problem exists.
Error messages received when importing the data. The DTS Import/Export
Wizard is stated as follows:
======================================================
Error at Destination for Row number 1364. Error encountered so far in this
task:1.
======================================================

Actually, I had made a post regarding this problem before and you did reply
as follows:
"Your dts package contains an assumption which appears to be not correct.
Maybe you are expecting every item to have an id which is not true? Maybe one
of the values contains an ' or ". Please check the 1364th value in the source
file to see what could be wrong. For testing you might want to delete it
first and see if the rest is correct."

I deleted row no. 1364 but same error prompted again, except that the row
number is different (1363).

How should I solve this problem?

Thx.

Difficulty Aligning Series Data With Proper Dates
I ‘m building a column graph using Excel 2007 and I’m having difficulty aligning a series of data with the proper dates. I have 2 series of data – Series 1: Includes a value for each quarter in 2009 (e.g., Mar-09, Jun-09, etc). Series 2: Includes a value for each quarter in 2010 (e.g., Mar-10, Jun-10, etc). After creating each series, I select the appropriate dates (Series 1 – 2009 dates / Series 2 – 2010 dates). The first issue that I’m having is that when I select the second set of dates (for Series 2), it overrides the first – so the x-axis initially shows 2009 dates, but then ...

Problem downloading old messages left on server
I have been having an intermittent problem where entourage downloads all the messages left on my Internet service provider's server, even though they have already been downloaded. I have a pop account. It only happens once every month or so. The service is a small private company called Hawaii Broadband. It is only happening with the Hawaii Broadband account. (I have two other email accounts). But the folks at Hawaii Broadband have no idea why this might happen and have no suggestions. I am using Entourage 2004, but my partner is using Entourage 2008 and he is having the same ...

data file: how to start its application
Hello! I have a byte array in memory for a file and also its filename (actually a mail attachment). Now I want to "open" this file. In case of a "*.doc" file I have to find the association (winword), run that program and give it a path to my memory or something like that. I think the simplest way to achieve this is to save the data into a temp file (GetTempPath + actual file name, overwriting any previous one), and then running RunCmd somehow and Windows knows what to do. I know how to write the file, but a RunCmd command doesn't exist or I haven't found some...

Signature problem
Hi , I have my signature as a BMP file and i want to insert it as text into the body of the email. This is required for all my banking transactions where a signature is needed on the email itself and on the body of the email as opposed to being an attached file. Every time i go to do it the body of the email says "signature.bmp" which is offcourse the filename but it doesn't mean anything. I can offcourse attach it as BMP file but then it is a separate attachment as a signature only. The banks will not accept this. i tried to do it under the signature provision but...

merging data
I have a master file and 4 workbooks where individuals enter info daily. I need to update the master file workbook at the end of the day with the info from the 4 individual notebooks. How would I merge this data? I tried the "shared workbooks" process but it wouldn't let me do it. Please Help! Since your question is very "general", here's a "general" suggestion: Explore the use of links. Have all WBs open. Right click in a pertinent data cell of one of the 4 WBs, and choose "Copy". Navigate to the appropriate cell in the "Master&quo...

Vertical Data Extraction
Hi, I need to create a chart that is based on changing values. The Values are all stored vertically in a Worksheet called Percentage. The chart sheet contains a selection box where the user can select a specific search and a date and the selected conditions should be searched for and the chart should display results. Basically, when the user selects X in the first list box and Y in the second one, the code should search the Percentage worksheet for all instances of value=x and y and output. column Row Feature1 Feature2 Feature3 2000 0.5 8.3 10 2000 ...
