CRM v3 / Win Server 2003

We have CRM v3 on Windows Server 2000. We're experiencing some pretty bad
performance and email problems. Emails frequently don't send, windows hang
for minutes upon saving changes, we had a permissions error (resulting in
emails not sending at all from the web client) solved by changing the app
server's SMTP settings, email attachments lose their extension and appear
corrupt to the recipient, and we're continually rebooting IIS on the app
server to temporarily help alleviate the performance issue. We also upgraded
the amount of memory on the app server to 2GB. While that helped, we're still
hanging way too often and it obviously didn't have anything to do with email
issues.

The most recent advice I received is to upgrade our OS to Win Server 2003
b/c of its improvements to IIS. Does anyone have insight as to if this will
affect the CRM installation? Or if it's just a matter of scheduling downtime
for the upgrade? Also, does anybody have insight as to whether or not this
will help?

Also, our Exchange server is also 2000. Should we also upgrade that box?

Thanks.

If your seeing these types of errors then upgrading to another OS ie server
2003 is unlikely to fix the errors.

However you do not mention how many crm users you are supporting and how
many cpu's are in the crm web server?

Apparently Win 2000 SBS is unsupported so MS Support wants me to upgrade
anyway.

We support about 80 users.

Other Information:
The size of the DB is 9.9GB.
We have 5222 active cases, 5300 accounts & 7300 contacts.

One CPU on the app server. It's 2.26 GHz w/ 2GB RAM.

Outlook 2003 hangs when checking Exchange credentials
I signed up for a hosted exchange service but couldn't get Outlook to connect to the Exchange server. I spent 3 hours on the phone testing lots of stuff with the support guys and we both determined that it had something to do with my connection to the server. I installed Outlook on a test computer on my network and it works fine. The only difference between the two computers is that I am running Spybot on my computer and not on the test computer. I shut down Spybot and still no luck. I am an Exchange newbie so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. ...

How do I track emails ONLY using tokens in CRM 4.0?
The pattern matching or "intelligent" matching of email content is misapplying inbound emails to non-related cases. I want to turn this feature OFF ASAP and return to ONLY tracking through tokens in the subject line. I can turn OFF tokens but not the smart matching. A configuration option would have been nice. I think you turn on the tokens, and then your users have to use the option to only track "E-mail messages in response to CRM e-mail" - that's how you prevent CRM from using 'smart' matching. CRM 3.0 and CRM 4.0
Dear All, We were implementing MSCRM for a very protential CRM customer (Education). Even they haven't signed the contract but we already started developing on the CRM 3.0, 3 weeks ago. A lot of customisation + .NET developing required on the version 3 but now we knew that we're reinventing the wheels as some of them will be already built in the V4 which one will be realease very soon (Q1-2008?) If we place order to MS now, we will receive the V4 earlier than Q1-2008, but it is V4, not V3 So now we decided moving the developing on V4 directly because no guarantee what we wer...

I click on the spreadsheet I want to open, in the same way as usual, and the outline of the spreadsheet appears, with the toolbar along the top, but instead of the spreadsheet data, this frame contains a replica of the desktop, as if the application was frozen. Migrating CRM to CRM
