Hi,

I have been reading forums for a while now and have tried basically
everything that I could get my hands on to try and resolve my problem
and have not been successful. Here is my setup, the problem and then
followed by what I have tried:

Setup:
---------
SBS 2003 Server
4 Gig of Ram,
CRM 3.0
GIGbit Lan
Mixture of XP and Vista PCs. (Total of 10 stations using the CRM)

Problem:
------------
I have changed IE User Authentication to prompt for username and
password.
Login with any user account using IE 7 on XP or Vista. The Side Panel
and Header display almost instantly.
The First page is the activities that is supposed to display, but this
takes about 5 to 7 seconds to display.
If i clisk on the calendar, it display instantly.
If i click on the Accounts, Contacts or almost anything else that has
a grid/table view, it takes 5 to 7 seconds to display.
This delay causes a lot of time to be wasted waiting with someone that
is trying to use the system actively.

Now I close the browser, open it again and this time I use the
administrator account to login to the CRM.
Now any page that I try and access is instant.  To me this is saying
that there is some configuration incorrect for my user accounts.

I have duplicate this test on a couple of stations with exactly the
same results every time.

What I have tried:

1. I used the CRM Optimization document and worked through it.
2. I checked that the CRM Roles are the same for my user and the
Administrator.
3. I tried the CRM Caching Tool.
4. I have looked at the Anonymous access for some of the static data
on the IIS CRM page.
5. I have tried to make the stage.js file expire immediately.
6. I checked the IIS and .NET performance settings.

So what next?
Is there anything else that anyone can suggest?

Leon,

Instead of changing IE User Authentication to prompt you for 
username/password, could you try logging in the client machine directly as an 
administrator and having the authentication settings to automatic logon for 
intranet settings. Also, could you check if you have the site as intranet and 
if there are any anti-virus programs running?

Hi,
I had the IE User Authentication set to automatic. I found that the
Administrator worked properly on the SBS server, so i tried to set the
login to "Prompt" to check if it is an environment problem or an
account problem.

Based on the test, it is not an environment problem, since the same
environment with 2 different accounts has different results.

I will try and login as the administrator and check if I have the same
problem with the Auto login and Prompt.

The Site has been set as Local Network.
Yes we are using Trend-AV.
But as I stated, without logging out ( the AV is still running) just
changing the account used in IE has an effect on the loading times of
the pages.

Hi,
Ok, I have logged off from my PC and logged in with the Administrator
account. It was the first time I have logged onto my PC with this
account so everything was still the defaults in IE. The User
Authentication was set to Automatic. I tried to login to CRM and
everything is very fast. I then changed the user authentication to
"Prompt" in the security settings of the Local Intranet and then used
my user account to login. CRM was slow for my account again.

I have read in some of the forums that security rights might be
causing this. Is this a possibility, that my user account has too many
checks to make, but administrator is accepted faster when performing
security checks?

Where can I find the security rights that might be used for the users
and compare with the administrator?

The constant 5 to 7 second delay points to the same thing being done
every time I access a page and that it constantly takes that same
amount of time to either time out or authenticate. I don't know enough
of the inner workings of the system to say that it is anything else
right now. Any help would really be appreciated.

I have done some more checking and have found where the problem seems
to be, but I still don't know what is causing it.
In the Webserver logs I found the 5 second delay between the initial
POSTs and the GETs.

After this log entry there is a 5 second delay. The first 2 posts seem
to fail because my authentication is not specified (401).
In the Third POST my DOAMIN\leon is sent through as the authentication

In between the normal GETs there are a couple of GET commands that
also fail because the authentication is not sent through (401). Is
there  a way to force it to always send the authentication? I have
tried using the "Prompt for USer" and "Automatically login using
Windows User" settings.

When I use the Administrator account I only have the initial 401
error, then the MYDOMAIN\Administrator is used and there is no delay
between the that line and the next GET.
Why would this be?

After a lot of searching I found a totally unrelated message that
stated that the users must belong to the SQLAccessGroup and the
ReportingGroup. I tried this, logged in again all the speed in the
word was available. :)
I didn't originally setup the CRM and the Server, so I assumed this
would be setup correctly and also I have not found any documents so
far stating that the Groups that an user belongs to would actually
make such a big difference.

I hope that this helps someone else out there that might be having the
same problems.
