Browser Client - Compilation Error CS1595

I believe this is the same problem that has previously been reported in the
thread "Outlook Client - Compilation error"

We have upgraded our 1.2 server to 3.0, however the upgrade was not
successful, so was uninstalled. It was re-installed, but to a different
location. Now we are getting the error: Compiler Error Message: CS1595:
'Microsoft.Crm.MainApplication' is defined in multiple places; using
definition from 'd:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary
ASP.NET
Files\root\e9ed75a0\cf6023fa\assembly\dl2\ba43147f\00445032_8f99c301\Microsoft.Crm.Application.Pages.Root.dll' (full details below)

I suspect it is to do with finding the correct .Net assembly. Under
d:\windows\assembly I see
Microsoft.Crm.Platform.Types 3.0.5300.0 31bf3856ad364e35
Microsoft.Crm.Platform.Types 1.2.3297.0 31bf3856ad364e35

Is this normal after installing 3.0 on a machine that had 1.2?

Can anyone suggest what can be done to resolve this situation? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Hoping that someone can help with this.
